A good Listing brings clicks, conversions and repeat customers. A bad Listing gets rejected, wastes time, and hurts your search rank. This page is the single source of truth for what passes admin review on SGT Cart and what doesn't.
1. Title rules
- Length: 30-90 characters. Too short looks lazy; too long gets truncated in lists.
- Structure: Brand — Model — Key Spec — Variant. Example: "Anker PowerCore 10000mAh Power Bank — Black".
- No keyword stuffing: Repeating the same word, listing every category, or comma-stuffing brand names will be rejected. "Mobile Phone Smart Phone Android Phone Cheap Phone" is rejection-bait.
- No brand misuse: Do not put a famous brand name in your title if the product is not made by that brand. "Apple-Style Earphones" is misleading. Generic descriptive titles ("Wireless Earphones") are fine.
- No emojis, ALL CAPS, exclamation marks: Looks unprofessional.
- No contact info: No phone numbers, WhatsApp, Telegram, email addresses, or off-platform URLs in the title.
- No promotional adjectives unless true: "Best", "Cheapest", "Number one" should reflect a verifiable claim (e.g., manufacturer's award) — otherwise drop them.
2. Description quality
A complete description carries the sale. Aim for 150-500 words, organised so a buyer can scan in 10 seconds.
- Original text — write your own description. Copy-pasting from the manufacturer's site, a competitor's page, or another marketplace Listing is rejection-worthy and may also be a copyright violation.
- Lead with the use case — who is this for, what problem does it solve?
- List the specifications — use the structured Spec rows feature (key/value pairs) instead of pasting a wall of text. Specs are easier to scan and feed into our AI summary system.
- Mention what's in the box — main item + accessories + warranty card.
- Mention warranty / return terms — even though the storewide Refund Policy applies, calling it out adds confidence.
- Avoid markdown / HTML tags — the editor uses plain paragraphs and bullets; HTML pasted in will display literally.
- Anti-disintermediation — no phone numbers, no off-platform URLs, no "contact me on …". Our phone-guard auto-redacts; repeat violations count as a Seller strike.
3. Image standards
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Resolution | Minimum 1000×1000 px. Square aspect ratio (1:1) recommended. |
| Format | JPG or PNG. Avoid GIF (loops), WebP (compatibility), HEIC (Apple-only). |
| File size | Each image under 4 MB; we re-encode anyway for fast page load. |
| Background | White or near-white for the cover image (helps the gallery thumbnail look clean). Lifestyle / context shots are great for the 2nd-Nth images. |
| Number | 1-8 images per Listing. Mandatory: cover, 1-2 angle shots. Optional: in-use, scale reference, accessories laid out. |
| Watermarks | Do not add your shop logo / phone / URL as a watermark — these get the Listing rejected. |
| Stolen images | Only use images you took yourself or have the right to use. Brand-supplied product shots from authorised resellers are fine. |
| Borrowed renders / 3D art | Don't use a stock render that doesn't show the actual unit you'll ship. |
4. Bilingual encouragement
Bilingual Listings (Bangla + English titles and descriptions) rank
visibly higher in search because they match more of the queries
customers actually type. The Seller form has parallel fields
(title_en + title_bn); fill both.
Auto-translation tools (Google Translate, ChatGPT) are acceptable as a starting point but proofread before publishing — automatic translations often miss product-specific nuance.
5. Pricing & MRP rules
- Price in BDT, VAT-inclusive.
- No inflated "MRP" to fake a discount. If you use the discount-price feature, the "MRP" must be a real prior selling price you can substantiate (e.g., your store sold it for that price in the last 90 days, or the manufacturer's printed price). CRPA §43 specifically forbids deceptive pricing.
- Honour the listed price for the duration of the Listing. Mid-cycle increases between order placement and shipment are not allowed — cancel the Sub-Order if you cannot fulfil at the listed price.
- No bait-and-switch — the price you advertise must match the price at checkout for the same variant.
- No drop-shipping arbitrage with delivery beyond 21 days without explicitly disclosing the long ETA on the product page.
6. Variants & bulk tiers
Variants (size, colour) and bulk-pricing tiers are tools that improve conversion when used honestly.
- Each variant gets its own stock counter and (optionally) price. Keep them in sync with reality.
- Do not list a variant as "available" if it's actually out of stock — buyer expectation is broken on order placement, and the cancellation hurts your performance.
- Bulk-pricing tiers must be genuine. A "5+ pack 30% off" that pushes the per-unit price below your cost looks suspicious; admin may ask for invoice evidence.
- Don't structure variants as "real product" vs "fake product" pricing tiers — that's bait-and-switch.
7. Category selection
Choose the deepest accurate sub-category. A wrong category (e.g., listing a phone case under "Mobiles" instead of "Mobile Accessories") hurts search relevance and may be re-categorised by admin.
If a category doesn't exist for your product, email seller-support@sgtcart.com — admin can add new categories within a few days.
8. Common rejections & how to fix them
| Rejection reason | Fix |
|---|---|
| Description copied from another site | Rewrite in your own words. Tools like a thesaurus or AI rewrite are fine if you proofread. |
| Images have watermarks or contact info | Re-export the images without watermarks; remove phone numbers / logos. |
| Brand name misused (e.g., "Apple-style") | Replace with a generic descriptor; keep brand mention only if you are an authorised reseller. |
| Inflated MRP / fake discount | Set the real prior price as MRP or remove the strike-through; show the honest current price. |
| Required category attributes missing (e.g., size for clothing) | Add variants for each size; fill in mandatory specs. |
| Prohibited or restricted item | See the Prohibited Items list; do not relist. |
| Counterfeit suspicion (price too low for the brand) | Supply proof of authentic sourcing (invoice from authorised distributor); admin reinstates. |
| Phone number / off-platform URL in the description | Remove. Our phone-guard would redact at runtime, but pre-publish removal is required to pass review. |
