Opening a shop on SGT Cart takes about 30 minutes for form-filling, plus 1-2 business days for admin verification. This guide takes you from zero to live store and your first sale.
Read the Seller Agreement and Listing Guidelines before you start — they define the rules you accept by listing.
1. Who can sell on SGT Cart
| You qualify if you are… | Required |
|---|---|
| An individual sole trader resident in Bangladesh | Aged 18+, valid NID, Trade Licence, TIN. |
| A registered company / partnership / proprietorship in Bangladesh | RJSC certificate, Trade Licence, TIN, BIN (VAT) if applicable, authorised representative's NID. |
| A non-resident Bangladeshi (NRB) with a registered local entity | Same as company, plus operating address inside Bangladesh. |
Foreign-resident sellers will be onboarded under a separate cross-border addendum in a later phase. Until then, every Seller must have a verifiable Bangladesh business identity.
2. Documents you'll need
Gather these before you start — having them ready cuts the onboarding time in half:
- NID — front + back, clear scan or photo (JPG/PNG, < 5 MB each).
- Trade Licence — clear scan (PDF/JPG).
- TIN certificate — issued by the National Board of Revenue.
- BIN / VAT registration — if your annual turnover is above the NBR threshold (currently Tk 80 lakh for VAT-eligible categories).
- Bank statement first page OR bKash Personal Retail / Nagad Merchant account screenshot — proves payout-account ownership.
- Shop logo (PNG, transparent background, ≥ 256×256 px).
- Shop banner (JPG, 1920×600 px recommended).
- Storefront photo if you have a physical shop — helps customer trust.
3. Step 1 — Create your account
- Visit /signup/?role=seller.
- Enter your business email, mobile number, and choose a password.
- Verify the email with the one-time code sent to your inbox.
- You're logged into the Seller Center at /seller/ in "Pending Verification" state. You can start uploading documents and drafting Listings while you wait.
4. Step 2 — Submit KYC for verification
- From /seller/, tap Shop Verification (KYC).
- Choose your business type (individual / company / partnership).
- Upload your NID front + back; enter your NID number exactly as printed.
- Upload Trade Licence; enter the licence number.
- Upload TIN certificate; enter the TIN.
- Enter your full shop address (line, area, city, district, postal code).
- Submit.
An SGT Cart admin reviews your submission within 1-2 business days. You'll receive an email when the decision is made. Common reasons for rejection: blurry document scans, NID name does not match Trade Licence name, expired Trade Licence. Fix and resubmit any time.
5. Step 3 — Build your store profile
While KYC is under review, set up the storefront — it goes live the moment KYC is approved.
- Shop name (English + Bangla) — bilingual is strongly recommended; storefront ranks better in mixed-language search.
- Shop slug — used in the URL
/store/your-slug/. Choose a short, memorable form. Lowercase letters and hyphens only. - Description — a 2-3 paragraph introduction. What you sell, since when, where, what makes you different.
- Logo — square, transparent PNG looks best.
- Banner — wide cover image for your store page.
- Phone & address — visible to admin only; never displayed to customers.
Sneak preview your storefront at /store/your-slug/. Anyone
with the link can see it once KYC is approved.
6. Step 4 — List your first products
- From the Seller Center, tap My Products → Create.
- Fill in the title (EN + BN), category, base price, stock, SKU, description.
- Upload 1-8 product images. The first one becomes the cover.
- Add variants if applicable — colour, size, each with its own price and stock.
- Add specifications (key/value rows like "Material — Cotton 100%"; up to 20 rows).
- Set bulk-pricing tiers if you offer volume discounts.
- Tap Submit for review. An admin reviews — typically same day — and the product goes live.
Read the Product Listing Guidelines before submitting. Common rejection reasons include: copied descriptions, watermarks on images, contact info in images or text, prohibited items, missing variants/specs that the category requires.
Tip: List at least 5 products before you market your store. A store with one product looks abandoned and discourages customer trust.
7. Step 5 — Set up payouts & tax
- From the Seller Center, open Payout Settings.
- Choose your primary payout method:
- Bank account — name, account number, branch.
- bKash — personal or agent number.
- Nagad — merchant or personal number.
- Confirm your TIN; this is used by SGT Cart to deposit VAT withholding to NBR (where applicable).
- Read and accept the Seller Agreement.
Earnings begin flowing the moment your first Sub-Order is delivered. See the Fees & Commission page for the commission breakdown and the Payouts page (coming soon) for the weekly settlement cycle.
